Which laptop?

Might be in the hunt for a laptop in the near future. Seems like it might be the right time to get into the market as prices seem to be plummeting (PC World advertising them at ?500, Dell for around ?400).

Not looking for anything particularly flashy or top of the range, just something to allow me a bit more mobility.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

i bought a Toshiba Satellite last year and I'm very pleased with it. Of course, I bought it before the pricing came crashing down  . The m,ain reason they are tumbling is because of the new centrino chip that is being used - the celeron/p4 chips are the ones that are now going cheap.

Of course if you have the money then go for an Alien laptop:

Thanks for the link, but I could do with something I could use on earth. ;)

I've seen the Toshiba's advertised as well. Would certainly consider buying one.

If it is any consolation I bought my digital camera just before the price of those started crashing down. It is absolutely galling when something like that happens.

Followed you down the Toshiba route (it is waiting for me at home, apparently) - do you take advantage of the wireless connectivity? If so which equipment would you recommend?

Wonder if I can pick up a signal from Jazz & Jules' abode? ;)
