Our people in Turkey

Amazing isn't it, I sometimes wonder how we (the UK) can be so clueless sometimes. Two bombs in the last few days at Jewish targets and where do our key personnel work in Istanbul, in a gatehouse because we have got the decorators in the main building. They were so exposed. They have been let down.

My heart goes to their families and also to the many more Turkish families who have suffered even greater casualities.

I can't explain why, but for some reason this attack has made me more worried about the world situation than other attacks. On another forum I visit people were saying about how these attacks seemed to be very random, that there is no way to stop people who aren't afraid of death. True, but then they were true before yesterday's attacks.

Very, very sad. Some of the footage yesterday was horrific.

Toneboy, I understand what you mean. Turkey is a pro-western nation seeking to modernize and attempting to break free of Islamic influence. But the Islamists are emboldened by the chaos in Iraq and are seeking to radicalize Turkey as they are doing the same in former moderator Islamic nations such as Malaysia and Indonesia.

Turkey has a large, powerful fundamentalist minority, that is growing in influence. The government has tried to keep them under wraps but they are loosing, IMHO.
