Loyalty or divided heart. Heart is your mind and it can cause you to turn away from God. Jesus hates idolatry and traditions of men. Anyone who does this is risking their names and thought of them will be blotted out of the record in heaven. There are consequences.
Deuteronomy 29:18. Lest there should be among you man or woman or family or tribe, whose heart turn away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations, lest there should be among you a root that bear gall and wormwood.
Worm wood is bitterness that it becomes poison to you. Members of body of Christ who turn to apostasy and pick up traditions of men and false doctrine. Don't take uo the abominations of the heathen.
Great star fallikg from heaven is Satan of Luke 10:18. In Isaiah 14:12-16, the falling star is Satan. There is only one son of perdition. Satan reflects himself as a illuminated lamp and shines lies to the world in appearance as false Christ near future.
Satan will look like Jesus and but his fountains give only bitterness. It may seem fresh or pure water, but its poison when you taste it. Drinking that water of false doctrine into your mind, it becomes poison to your soul. Some churches don't teach God's word as they should. Traditions of men and false doctrine lead to hell.
29:20. The Lord will not spare him, but when the anger of the Lord and His jealousy shall smote against that man, and the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.
God doesn't play games. If anyone thinks they can play with God's word and create their own worship, are in serious trouble.
Moses is warning us, your name and even thought of you will be blotted out of the record in heaven and fast trip to hell. Traditions of men and false doctrine angers God. Only sound doctrine is acceptable. We are to be doers of the word, not hearers. Blessings or curses, its there choice.

Soldiers made a commitment to Joshua and God. If anyone rebels against your command and instructions will be put to death. The men already have their inheritance on East side of the Jordan .
They gave there loyalty pledge to rest of the children of Israel. There families abide in peace. Satan is coming near future as antichrist and his bitterness leads to hell. God won't put up with divide loyalty or double dealings. Our faith must be strong. Its there choice what path they choose. No one can serve God and Satan at the same time. Peace.
